The Córdoba Airport observatory has confirmed that for four consecutive days, readings exceeded 42 ºC. The peak of the heatwave was reached on July 5, when 42.7 ºC was recorded at the airport facilities.
Similarly, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) reference station located in Hinojosa del Duque, in the north of the province, also endured this episode. In this area, values remained above 40 ºC for four straight days, reaching its maximum on July 5 with 40.6 ºC.
The analyzed data, using the 1991-2020 period as a reference, reflect a significant anomaly in temperatures during the first eight days of July. Maximums exceeded the average by 6.1 ºC, while minimums recorded an increase of 1.6 ºC, placing the average temperature 3.9 ºC above the usual values for this time of year.
