After a more subdued start to the year due to adverse weather and disruptions in high-speed rail connections with Madrid, tourism in Córdoba has experienced a notable recovery. During March, hotels in the province hosted 102,785 travelers, representing a 2.84% increase compared to the same month last year. This figure is the highest recorded since March 2024 and the third best in the last decade, only surpassed by March 2016.
Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) also shows growth in overnight stays, which reached 176,831 in March, a 2.17% increase from the previous year. This volume of overnight stays ranks as the third best since 2016, trailing only March 2024 and March 2016. The average length of stay remained at 1.72 days, consistent with the average over the last decade.
The breakdown of travelers indicates that 59.61% were residents of Spain, while 40.39% came from abroad. Among national tourists, Andalucía continues to be the autonomous community contributing the most visitors to Córdoba, accounting for 42.13%, followed by the Community of Madrid (20.07%), Catalonia (6.84%), and the Valencian Community (6.80%).
The province had 174 hotels open in March, employing 1,368 workers and offering a total of 5,798 rooms. The occupancy rate for hotel beds was 48.71% for the month, rising to 56.04% on weekends. This spring surge sets the stage for the anticipated May Festivities, which include events such as pilgrimages, the Wine Tasting, the Crosses, the Patios, and the Fair of Our Lady of Health.
