This initiative, promoted by the Córdoba City Council, seeks to highlight the role of museums as tools for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. This year, under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” the focus is on their potential to foster dialogue, inclusion, and peace.
Since the official date of May 18 coincides with the museums' usual closing day, the celebration has been extended over several days to allow for greater public participation. The main goal is to strengthen the cultural, social, and educational function of these spaces, making them accessible to all ages.
Among the scheduled activities, on Tuesday, May 19, both museums will be open continuously from 8:15 AM to 8:15 PM, offering explanatory tours with cultural mediators. The Bullfighting Museum will also distribute themed parchís and goose game boards, while the Julio Romero de Torres Museum will host the family creative workshop Mantones y sombras on Saturday.
“"The objective is to bring municipal museums closer to the entire population and reinforce their cultural, social, and educational function through a program accessible to children, adults, and seniors."
The musical and scenic program includes a classical guitar concert by Manuel Torres Ruiz in the central courtyard of the Bullfighting Museum on Saturday, May 16. On Sunday, May 17, the Julio Romero de Torres Museum will present the contemporary dance piece Cartografías del silencio, segundo acto, performed by Nene Álvarez, and a music and painting recital featuring cellist Raquel Rivera Novillo.
Additionally, the Bullfighting Museum maintains its special program linked to the Fiesta de los Patios, which includes the exhibition Toros y caballos by Fernando Aguayo, open until May 31, as well as round tables and literary presentations.
