The refusal to allow the Agrupación to conduct a study on the option presented by the Franciscan corporation occurred during the assembly of senior brothers. The brotherhoods of Cordoba rejected carrying out a study on the change of the official route proposed by the brotherhood of La Soledad, which reopened the debate a month ago regarding the current common route taken by Cordoban corporations around the Holy Church Cathedral.
The assembly of senior brothers settled the matter with a negative vote on allowing the Agrupación to conduct a study on La Soledad's official route proposal. In this regard, the corporation of Good Friday sought to alter a route that has remained virtually unchanged since the common route was moved to the vicinity of the diocese's main temple.
Beyond approving the accounts for 2025 and the budget for 2026, the key point of this assembly of senior brothers was the approval by the senior brothers to authorize the governing board of the Agrupación to carry out a study on the proposal made by the brotherhood of La Soledad.
The route proposed by the corporation of Good Friday started at the beginning of San Fernando street to the exit through the Puerta del Perdón of the diocese's main temple. The brotherhoods would enter the Cathedral through the Puerta de Santa Catallina after previously passing through Cardenal González and Magistral González Francés.
Once inside the diocese's main temple, the brotherhoods would exit through the Puerta del Perdón, with the option to proceed through the Judería, via Amador de los Ríos towards Fleming, or through the Puerta del Puente and Ronda de Isasa. La Soledad's proposed official route was the opposite of the current one, which has its entrance at the Puerta del Puente and exit through the Puerta de Santa Catalina.
Following the pertinent vote in the assembly, the response from the senior brothers was negative. Thus, La Soledad's proposal will not undergo a prior study by the Agrupación to assess the real possibilities of this alternative route change. Despite the final rejection, the debate will remain open regarding an official route that was moved to the Cathedral area in 2017.
A formula will apply the passage time of each brotherhood
Additionally, Rafa López, Procession representative, presented a report on the criteria adopted by the passage time commission, which determined the duration of the brotherhoods' transit through the official route and will come into effect starting from Holy Week in Cordoba in 2027.
Regarding this point, which will be reviewed annually, Rafa López explained the applicable formula, which will consider the procession, the number of floats, and the bands each brotherhood has. With 65 minutes of passage through the official route, the speed of each corporation in the shared areas of each day's route will vary.
