The Cerro Muriano Summer Camps, organized by the Provincial Council of Córdoba, return with improved facilities, including the roof and swimming pool. The participation of 2,000 young people aged 8 to 19 from across the province is expected, with stays ranging from 5 to 9 nights.
Sara Alguacil, delegate for Technological Development, Digital Transformation, and Youth, highlighted that this activity is one of the "stars of the year," mobilizing over 2,000 children and young people. There are 10 scheduled turns, differentiated by age groups, from 8 to 19 years old.
The improvements at the Cerro Muriano facilities represent an investment of over 600,000 euros. The roofs of the pavilions and rooms, as well as the pool area including its surroundings and drainage, have been renovated. Additionally, the room air conditioning has been improved to ensure the quality and safety of the participants.
Further renovations are planned to commence in September, after the camp season concludes, to avoid interfering with scheduled activities. These will include improvements to the room air conditioning system and the installation of photovoltaic panels to create a sustainable and self-sufficient space.
Alguacil emphasized the importance of this activity not only for the enjoyment of the youth but also as an option for family reconciliation for parents during the early summer days when they are still organizing holidays.
The Leisure and Free Time Campaign has a budget of 450,000 euros, reflecting the Provincial Council's commitment to the quality of these services and the maintenance of a facility that serves over 8,000 people annually.
The minors engage in healthy leisure activities in nature, participate in games that foster independence and skill development, and spend time disconnected from mobile devices. As a new feature, cybersecurity advice and responsible social media use courses are included.
The youngest age groups will receive a visit from the digital training program truck ‘Eres Capaz’, while other turns will feature advisory training sessions in collaboration with the Civil Guard and the Provincial Council's Public Informatics Company (Eprinsa).
