The hospitality entrepreneur from Córdoba, Antonio Amil Corredera, has finalized the purchase of the city's three historic summer cinemas: Delicias, Fuenseca, and Olimpia. The facilities previously belonged to the heirs of businessman Martín Cañuelo.
The operation, amounting to 300,000 euros for the three venues, has been communicated to the Local Government Board of the Córdoba City Council. The council has acknowledged the legal subrogation of the private lease agreement for the Fuenseca and Delicias cinemas.
According to the municipal records, the acquisition of the urban properties designated for summer cinemas was formalized on March 26, 2026. Subsequently, the new owners requested the continuation of the lease agreement that the City Council held with the previous ownership, an agreement for carrying out cultural activities in these spaces.
The municipal agreement stipulates that the subrogation takes effect from April 1, 2026. The new owners commit to maintaining the facilities' purpose as summer cinemas and as venues for popular, cultural, and festive events outside the summer season.
The Córdoba City Council had previously waived its right of pre-emption and redemption, as stipulated in the Andalusian Historical Heritage Law. This decision was made after analyzing the most convenient option for public interest and social profitability, thus facilitating the completion of the sale.
Antonio Amil, who had previously expressed concerns about the low profitability of summer cinema, now transitions from managing to owning these representative open-air cinematic spaces in Córdoba, with a commitment to continue screening films during the summer season.
