The Provincial Council of Córdoba has finalized the works for the fourth and final phase of the Day Care Unit in the municipality of Valenzuela. This center, included in the Provincial Works and Services Plans 2024-2027, will provide specialized care for dependent elderly individuals and promote their continued residence in the municipality.
The president of the provincial institution, Salvador Fuentes, visited Valenzuela to receive the completed works, which have progressed through various stages since the initial construction of the building's structure. The intervention involved a total investment of 817,676 euros, with the Provincial Council contributing 611,189 euros (74.8 percent).
The building, with a capacity for 20 users, is functionally organized into four accessible floors and includes a common room, a lounge connected to a terrace of nearly 40 square meters, a dining room, a specialized care area with a physical rehabilitation gym, an occupational therapy room, as well as kitchen and laundry services. The usable area is 365 square meters and the built area is 470.80 square meters, complemented by a terrace and a patio.
Salvador Fuentes highlighted the need for furniture, an effort he hopes will be shared by the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Provincial Council. "This center is already a reality, but it now needs furniture," he explained, emphasizing that the building "will strengthen relationships among the elderly, foster brotherhood, and speaks volumes about a town that wants to care for, and does care for, its elders."
The final phase included the completion of air conditioning, ventilation, fire protection, and elevator systems, along with improvements to the terrace, insulation, carpentry, and final paintwork.
The president recalled that the center is the result of the work of "three presidents, two presidents and one president" before him, and that his administration has concluded the project, initiated 20 years ago, alongside the delegate for Infrastructure, Andrés Lorite, and the Valenzuela City Council.
The mayor of the town, Antonio Pedregosa, thanked the technical staff for their work and the Provincial Council for funding this "exciting" project. He mentioned the "many complications" faced and the adaptation to new regulations over the years, expressing his hope that the building will soon be "occupied by the users of Valenzuela."
The construction of the building was carried out in four successive phases since 2006, covering everything from foundation and structure to high-efficiency energy systems and final finishes.
The Provincial Council of Córdoba has made significant investments in Valenzuela, with nearly one million euros planned between 2023 and 2027 through various programs. Improvements have been made to the municipal cemetery, the sports complex, rural roads, the old town hall, the industrial estate, and the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.
