The Provincial Council of Córdoba hosted the presentation of the exhibition calendar for the 28th edition of DMencia, a project within the Periféricos program of the Rafael Botí Foundation for Plastic Arts. The head of Culture for the Council, Gabriel Duque, highlighted that the project is made possible by the collaboration between the provincial institution and the Mencía City Council.
Duque noted that this year's call for entries received a total of 51 proposals, ensuring a wide variety of artistic disciplines and a multicultural character. The exhibition has reached 21 Spanish provinces and nationalities such as Argentina, Colombia, Spain, France, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
The mayor of Doña Mencía, Salvador Cubero, emphasized that the initiative, titled ‘Metamorphosis. An Anthropological Revolution’, aims to encourage reflection on contemporary social and environmental urgencies from the perspective of contemporary art.
Cubero added that the event, which has gained importance in the contemporary art world, offers a unique opportunity to discover the locality.
The exhibition's curator, Moisés Bedmar, detailed the selected works for this edition of DMencia, which will be on display at the town's Casa de la Cultura until the end of 2026.
Bedmar explained that the exhibition will open with ‘Retratos del otro’ (Portraits of the Other) by Marta Fresneda, a project selected in 2025, which can be visited until September 26.
The works selected for 2026 include ‘Kypros Bassoa’ by Belén Arévalo (from October 3 to 17), ‘Contar historias (Kóng Kóo)’ by Chou Ming Yi (from November 7 to 21), and ‘Volatile’ by Gustavo Fuentetaja (from December 4 to 21).
