The Plenary of the Provincial Council of Córdoba has approved aid amounting to 300,000 euros for municipalities to combat the Nile Virus and has greenlit the improvement project for the CO-3303 road.

The Provincial Council of Córdoba approved in its July plenary session the provisional resolution of an aid program for municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants. The aim is to help them cover expenses related to the implementation of Municipal Plans against the Nile Virus. These grants total 300,000 euros.
According to Antonio Martín, spokesperson for the Provincial Group of the Popular Party, 76 municipalities in the province will benefit. The thirteen municipalities declared at high risk will receive 5,000 euros each, while the remaining 63, classified with medium and low risk levels, will receive aid of 3,730 euros.
These funds will support the development and updating of municipal plans for vector surveillance and control, mosquito surveillance and control efforts, disinsection actions, and public information and awareness campaigns.
Regarding the province's situation, Martín shared results from a report by Enzoem, the Competitive Research Unit for Zoonoses and Emerging Diseases at the University of Córdoba. Between June 29 and July 5, mosquito captures were analyzed in 20 municipalities to identify Culex mosquitoes, the main transmitters of the virus. The results were negative for West Nile Virus, with 229 specimens captured and 15 mosquito groups analyzed.
Experts from the University of Córdoba describe the scenario as having low entomological activity. Nevertheless, the sampling plan and periodic molecular surveillance will continue to detect any increase in transmission risk early. The provincial situation is considered under constant control and monitoring, and citizens are reminded of the importance of following self-protection recommendations.
Furthermore, the Plenary approved the improvement project for the CO-3303 road (A-3025), specifically the section from La Victoria to La Rambla via San Sebastián de los Ballesteros (phase 2). This initiative represents a total investment of over 3 million euros and is the largest road investment in the province during this legislative term.
Andrés Lorite, delegate for Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Agriculture, explained that the budget totals 3,065,000 euros. The first phase, costing 1.5 million euros, involved widening the four kilometers closest to La Rambla. The current approval covers the other four kilometers towards San Sebastián de los Ballesteros, following the necessary property expropriations.
This second phase adds to the previous one, with the urban section of La Rambla, which did not require widening but has been resurfaced, being the remaining part. The delegate noted that the road is strategic, heavily used, and in poor condition.
Prior to the Plenary session, the PP spokesperson and head of the Provincial Consortium for Fire Prevention and Extinction congratulated the Diputación's firefighters for their work, highlighting their swift intervention in a fire in Rute. He also extended condolences to the families of victims of the fire in the province of Almería and acknowledged the dedication of all emergency personnel involved.
