The president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, visited the renovation works of the Carmen and San Fernando buildings, noting the good pace of work including structural consolidation and roof waterproofing.

The renovation works at the Carmen and San Fernando buildings of the Provincial Colleges in Córdoba are progressing well, as confirmed by the president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes. Efforts during July and August have led to the near completion of the roofs and the structural consolidation of both properties.
The project, which also includes window installations, will be finalized with a third phase focused on renewable energy. Fuentes explained that the intervention was necessary to transform these buildings, originally designed as a children's residence, into a modern and efficient administrative service complex for the Council, addressing structural and safety issues.
The initiative will allow for the concentration of services at the Provincial Colleges and the Palacio de la Merced, heralding a new era of digitalization and advanced technology. The president emphasized the recovery of two emblematic buildings, acknowledging a debt to the Parque Figueroa and the architect Rafael de La Hoz.
Meanwhile, the project's technical director, Joaquín Gómez de Hita, stated that structural consolidation and roof fitting are almost complete. The second contract, now underway, involves facade rehabilitation with ventilated systems and window replacement, ahead of schedule.
The third phase includes the installation of photovoltaic panels on each building. These comprehensive actions, with a budget of 5.3 million euros, will bring 50-60 year old buildings up to current standards, improving their insulation, waterproofing, and addressing structural problems.
The buildings, designed by Rafael de la Hoz and spanning 18,000 square meters, currently house 300 employees of the institution. The renovation aims to equip them with the latest in risk prevention, safety, climate control, and renewable energy, making them more functional and improving conditions for staff and users.
