The municipal company was represented by four professionals who participated in various technical sessions and debate panels. The general manager of EMACSA, María Teresa Carrillo, took part in the round table «Innovation Applied. From Technological Development to Real Impact», held after the presentation of the EMACSA Chair by its director, Mari Paz Aguilar Caballos. The session addressed the need to translate scientific and technological advances into solutions applicable by water management companies.
For his part, the Director of Operations at EMACSA, José Antonio Durán, opened the block of presentations dedicated to the management of supply and sanitation networks with a keynote lecture titled «The Invisible Networks. The Future is Already Here». His intervention focused on essential infrastructures for the functioning of cities that, however, usually go unnoticed by citizens; as well as the role of young professionals in the future of the sector.
EMACSA technicians, Nerea Grande and Isabel Muñoz, presented the paper «Recovering the Sewerage System after the DANA: Experience of a YWP in Catarroja», where they detailed EMACSA's intervention in this Valencian municipality after the floods of October 2024. Specifically, the presentation included the experience of a municipal company professional who took charge of the displaced and local team to restore the collapsed sewerage network.
Both professionals also participated in the conference's scientific-technical program with three posters dedicated to EMACSA projects: assessment of the renovation of sanitation networks versus their rehabilitation, the creation of the PERTE Office as a coordination and project management structure, and the development of a Unified Control Center to improve the supervision of facilities. Furthermore, Nerea Grande and Isabel Muñoz were part of the Organizing Committee for this first Ibero-American edition, contributing to the establishment of a space for knowledge exchange among young professionals in the water sector from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.
Participation in the meeting allowed EMACSA to share its experience and projects, exchange knowledge with other operators and professionals in the sector, and strengthen its ties with the new generations of professionals who will play a leading role in water management in the coming years.
