Every September 22nd marks the World Car-Free Day, an initiative within the European Mobility Week (EMW). This global event aims to foster a cleaner environment, reduce car dependency, and encourage reflection on the impact of excessive car use on the planet, promoting sustainable transport alternatives.
The Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Sevilla (IRNAS) is participating for the first time this year. The institution has been promoting actions to favor Sustainable Mobility in recent years, including the installation of bicycle parking facilities and the acquisition of plug-in hybrid cars with electric charging points.
European Mobility Week takes place from September 16th to 22nd under the theme ‘Mobility for all: intergenerational equity’. This campaign, promoted by the European Commission, emphasizes the need to ensure access to sustainable transport for everyone, regardless of their age, income, location, or gender.
The initiative places special emphasis on intergenerational equity, recognizing that people of all ages face different mobility needs and challenges throughout their lives, from childhood to old age.
