The exhibition, open to the public until October 1st, features about twenty images selected from the ‘Marina Alta Breastfeeding’ photography contest, aiming to highlight this practice and its health benefits.
The conferences, taking place on Thursday, October 1st, under the theme ‘For a Sustainable Start to Life: Strengthening What Works’, have around a hundred registered participants and promote breastfeeding as the natural way to feed a baby.
Organized by the Gynecology and Obstetrics, Neonatology, and Pediatrics departments, in collaboration with the Initiative for the Humanization of Childbirth and Breastfeeding (IHAN) and the Andalusian Association of Midwives, the event will feature nationally recognized speakers and practical workshops.
Topics to be discussed include the ecological and public health impact of breastfeeding, support networks, maternal education during pregnancy, and successful practices in delivery rooms and hospital wards. The Seville City Council is collaborating through delegate Blanca Gastalver, who will give a keynote speech on Seville's designation as a ‘Breastfeeding-Friendly City’.
Additionally, a ‘clinical escape room’ will be held to present risk situations related to breastfeeding abandonment, requiring participants to propose solutions. The hospital has five internationally certified Breastfeeding Consultants (IBCLC).
