The ‘Equípate’ program, aimed at minors enrolled for the 2026-2027 school year from families in social emergency situations, distributed school supplies this Thursday at the Hogar Virgen de los Reyes. The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, presided over the delivery event.
Sanz highlighted the program's shift in focus, now reaching all districts of the city, unlike its initial phase which only served the Southern district. "All families in priority attention neighborhoods have the same rights. That is what it means to govern for all Sevillians," stated the mayor, emphasizing that social support for families is a major priority of his term.
This program has a budget of 110,000 euros and has provided over 8,000 backpacks in the last three years. Each kit includes a blue backpack and basic classroom supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, colored pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, and glue sticks.
The mayor concluded by reaffirming the City Council's commitment to the most vulnerable families: "With Equípate, we continue to guarantee that no child in Seville starts the school year without the materials they need to learn. It is a commitment from this City Council to our city's most vulnerable families: to reduce their financial burden and ensure equal opportunities from the first day of class."
