The meeting, held this morning, focused on municipal actions derived from subsidies included in Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, aimed at repairing damage caused by storms earlier this year.
The meeting was chaired by the Government Sub-delegate in Seville, Francisco Toscano, and the president of the CHG, Gloria Martín Valcárcel, with the participation of the CHG's Water Commissioner, Alejandro Rodríguez González.
Municipalities were reminded that any intervention in the Public Hydraulic Domain or the Police Zone (the 100-meter protection area around riverbeds) requires authorization from the river basin authority. Given the relevance of this regulation and the deadlines set by the Royal Decree, the importance of coordination between administrations was emphasized.
The Confederation offered its collaboration for the correct drafting of projects and the submission of documentation, in order to expedite processing and avoid delays.
Additionally, information was provided on the investment of over 60 million euros planned under the Royal Decree-Law for emergency works in the Guadalquivir basin. Gloria Martín detailed that works have already begun on riverbeds, dams, and state-owned irrigation canals in all provinces, with completion expected between the end of this year and the first quarter of next.
In the province of Seville, the investment amounts to 6 million euros for riverbed works and 5 million for state-owned hydraulic infrastructures.
