Residents of Huelva capital perceived a strong burning smell this morning and observed a smoke column spreading over the city. Sources from the 112 Andalucía Emergency service confirmed that the origin of the haze was in the marshes of Gibraleón, where a fire that started on Sunday afternoon had reactivated.
The wind was responsible for transporting the smoke to the Huelva capital, causing concern among citizens. Emergency services have called for calm given the magnitude of the smoke column.
Various extinguishing resources have been deployed to the affected area in Gibraleón, including a semi-heavy unit, two light amphibious units, two forest firefighter groups, an extinction technician, two environmental agents, and a fire engine, to control the fire's resurgence.
