The blaze originated around 2:29 PM in a marshland zone near the Odiel river. The area's vegetation, described as "very dense" and partly dry due to its proximity to the marshes, complicated initial efforts.

To combat the flames, an initial deployment included two groups of forest firefighters, an operations technician, two water tanker vehicles, a medium-lift helicopter, and a ground-based air tanker. Subsequently, the operation was expanded with an additional operations technician and a heavy-lift helicopter.

This incident occurs at the start of the high-risk forest fire season in Andalusia, which runs from June 1st to October 15th. During this period, restrictions are in place, including the prohibition of fires, barbecues, or agricultural and forest burns in natural spaces.

The Regional Government of Andalusia has called for citizen responsibility, noting that approximately 94% of forest fires are human-caused.
