The president of the Provincial Council, José Antonio García, and the mayor of Huércal de Almería, Ismael Torres, have formalized a collaboration agreement for the financing of this new infrastructure located in the Barrio Visiedo. The agreement also includes the construction of a new connecting road to the 'El Palomar' Neighborhood.
The joint investment for this project amounts to 1,220,000 euros. The Provincial Council will contribute 1,000,000 euros, while the Huércal de Almería City Council will cover the remainder. The goal is for this new municipal infrastructure to be operational by 2027.
The future park, which will span an area of 4,500 m2, has been designed as a continuous system of open spaces. It will integrate activity areas, rest zones, and landscaping elements, aiming to be a dynamic, inclusive, and flexible space suitable for daily use as well as social, cultural, and recreational activities.
The project also aims to ensure urban permeability and reserves space for a future connection between the Visiedo and ‘El Palomar’ neighborhoods, thereby promoting urban mobility and the cohesion of the municipality.
José Antonio García Alcaina highlighted the Provincial Council's commitment to Huércal de Almería, recognizing the municipality's transformation into a place with its own identity and pride, offering infrastructure and services comparable to those of a large city. He stated that the Provincial Council will continue to support this development so that it remains a benchmark for families.
For his part, Ismael Torres thanked the Provincial Council for its support and financing, emphasizing that the investment will contribute to the modernization of Huércal de Almería and the creation of a new attractive space for residents from other municipalities, similar to Loquilandia. The park will be designed for residents' enjoyment, combining leisure, environment, and recreation.
The future park will be divided into three main zones: a sports area, a children's playground, and a large plaza designed as a modern, functional, and accessible agora.
