The initiative includes updating connection fittings and installing vertical signage for quick identification by emergency services. Mayor Ismael Torres highlighted the importance of these infrastructures for ensuring a rapid and effective response to any eventuality, noting that each new hydrant improves municipal safety and aids firefighting efforts.
These works are carried out in collaboration with the joint water service Aqualia and the Consorcio de Bomberos del Poniente, complementing regular checks on the existing hydrant network to ensure proper functioning. This first phase of renovation will continue in the coming months, expanding and modernizing these emergency supply points in neighborhoods such as the historic center, Villa Inés, Bulevar, La Lustra, El Potro, Las Cumbres, Los Pinos, El Palomar, Las Zorreras, and in the industrial parks of San Rafael and Zamarula.
This action is part of the municipal strategy to improve safety and emergency services, which also includes advancing the future fire station for Huércal de Almería. The City Council has already approved the execution project for this strategic infrastructure, which is awaiting tender and construction, and will strengthen emergency response capabilities and resident protection.
