Six students from various degree programs at the University of Almería (UAL), including Vanesa Contreras and Rodrigo Cuadrado, have been awarded for their project 'Almeripass'. This initiative, aimed at creating a business from scratch, received a thousand euros sponsored by the Almería City Council at the XIV JUMP Entrepreneurship Initiation ‘El Reto’.
The award ceremony was attended by Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, Councilor for Tourism, Communications, and City Promotion of the Almería City Council; Miguel Pérez, Rector's Delegate for Strategy, Communication, and Coordination at UAL; and Carlos Cano, Director of UAL Emprende. The 'Almeripass' project was recognized for its focus on accessible tourism, offering inclusive routes for people with functional diversity.
Miguel Pérez highlighted the collaboration with the Almería City Council to steer projects towards sustainable tourism. Out of 41 participating entrepreneurs, three projects received awards, thereby fostering entrepreneurship in areas crucial for the municipality's development.
Joaquín Pérez expressed the Almería City Council's pleasure in collaborating and investing in UAL's talent, emphasizing the value of the presented ideas, even if they are evolutions of the initial proposals.
The 'Almeripass' project received the Award for the Best Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurial Project for its advisory platform for cultural and gastronomic experiences tailored to people with functional diversity. Other awards included 'Agroexperience' for tourism innovation and 'Almería Aeternum' for its impact on the municipality's tourism development.
Carlos Cano described the edition as magnificent, focusing on solutions for tourism in Almería. Participants, grouped into teams, developed eight projects over six sessions, acquiring key skills such as resource management, creativity, and autonomy.
Vanesa Contreras, spokesperson for the 'Almeripass' team, explained that the idea originated a few months ago with the goal of creating a travel agency specializing in accessible tourism, catering to both locals and visitors. The project has shown significant potential, and there is a demand for this type of service.
