The final of the Níjar Elite League (NEL) saw Coyote FC face Estrellas del Levante, with Coyote FC securing a 4-1 victory. The trophy presentation was attended by a representative from the Níjar City Council and the tournament organizer, from the Sol Descalzo Association.
This edition of the NEL, which also served as a project management training process for the young members of the Sol Descalzo Association, brought together fourteen teams from the Comarca de Níjar. The event attracted numerous fans to the Municipal Field and was attended by a sports director from the UD Almería youth academy.
“"The NEL aspires to be a social benchmark for the 2030 World Cup, as an example of the role of sport and integration as drivers of development and opportunities for young people."
The tournament was conceived as a celebration of integration through sport, both on the field and in the stands. A twinning event was held with the community of Favela Morro Dos Prazeres, featuring online performances by Brazilian DJs. Additionally, Spanish urban artists created three graffiti pieces on greenhouse canvases, and various parallel activities were developed to promote the tournament both within and outside Spain.
The NEL was organized by the Sol Descalzo Association, with sponsorship from the La Caixa Foundation and collaboration from the Níjar City Council, Coprohnijar, El Corte Inglés, and several local businesses.
The honors for this edition include Coyote FC as champions and Estrellas del Levante as runners-up. Individual awards went to a player from Estrellas del Levante for best player, and two players from Coyote FC for top scorer and best goalkeeper, respectively.
