Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Angie Sánchez delivered an intimate performance at the Club de Mar last night, marking the preview of the new edition of Cooltural Fest. Sánchez, who has years of experience on stage as a pianist and backing vocalist, presented songs from her debut album Tiempo al Tiempo, produced by Ricky Falkner, exploring genres from folk and pop-rock to blues.
The event was attended by officials including the Provincial Deputy of Presidency and Promotion, Carlos Sánchez, the Deputy of Tourism, María José Herrada, and the Councilor for Culture of the Almería City Council, Diego Cruz. Gemma Giménez, Sponsorship Manager for Crash Music, welcomed attendees, sponsors, and collaborators.
Crash Music emphasized the festival's commitment to accessibility and inclusion, not only through accessible concerts on the main stages but also with the ILSE (sign language interpretation) for 10 of them and the inclusion of artists like Laura Diepstraten and Bloco Suca Batucada Inclusiva. The festival will feature two main stages and a third, Cupra, dedicated to emerging artists.
Carlos Sánchez, Provincial Deputy, highlighted that Cooltural Fest places Almería on the map of major national festivals, projecting a young and dynamic image. He noted the Provincial Council's support for an event that generates economic activity, attracts visitors, and makes the city a meeting point.
Councilor Diego Cruz emphasized how the festival has established Almería as a key destination for thousands of visitors, offering a diverse musical lineup with established artists and promising newcomers, alongside the city's attractions.
This year's edition also features international acts such as Norwegian band Kakkamadafakka and Italian group Mind Enterprises. It was also highlighted as the most 'Almerian' edition to date, with local artists including David Bisbal, La Martumind, Laura Diepstraten, Nixon, Vera GRV, Professor Popsnuggle, and various local DJs.
The public welcome party will take place this Thursday, August 20th, at the Parque de las Almadrabillas, with free entry. Performances will include Lamartumind, Comandante Twin, Melifluo, Paula Mattheus, Carlangas, and Juanca & Pope Supersub Dj Set.
The main festival days will be held at the Recinto de Conciertos from Friday, August 21st, to Sunday, August 23rd. Friday's lineup includes indie rock and alternative acts like Bala, Depresión Sonora, La M.O.D.A., León Benavente, and Lori Meyers. Saturday will feature Ana Torroja, Hombres G, La Pegatina, Rigoberta Bandini, Sexy Zebras, Sidecars, Ultraligera, and Kakkmaddafakka. Sunday's closing acts include David Bisbal, Vera GRV, Nixon, Ginebras, Marlena, Melón Diesel, and Sarria.
The closing party on the 29th will feature Sao, Profesor Popsnuggle, Las Dianas, Victorias, Éxtasis, Los Punsetes, and entertainment by the inclusive batucada Bloco Suca Almería.
Cooltural Fest, organized by Crash Music, Fundación Music For All, and the Culture Area of the Almería City Council, receives institutional support from the Provincial Council of Almería and Costa de Almería, with sponsorships from Estrella de Levante, Schweppes, Brugal, Cupra Indalo Motor, Grupo Ecoinver, and Alsa.
