The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Realism (MUREC) in Almería opens Temporary Exhibition Hall II this Saturday, July 25th, to showcase the work of artist Cristina Megía. The exhibition, titled ‘The Dog, the Child, and the Closed Eyes’, will be available until October 18th.

The new cultural proposal, unveiled this morning, features a selection of 40 works primarily focused on landscapes, though the exhibition also includes portraits, interiors, still lifes, and photographs. The exhibition's curator, Francisco Copado, highlighted that the show appeals to emotion and poetry, without neglecting Megía's technique and mastery.
The Deputy of Tourism, María José Herrada, emphasized the artist's unique poetic vision, her distinct language, and the emotional depth of her works, inviting reflection on the human soul. Herrada pointed out the opportunity for the public to visit the MUREC with this exhibition alongside that of María Moreno in other museum spaces.
Cristina Megía, who holds degrees in Art History and Fine Arts, advocates for a form of painting based on contemplation and emotion, and the importance of technique in service of language. The artist expressed her emotion at seeing her works gathered at MUREC, where they gain a different dimension.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 AM and 2 PM, and from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. On Sundays, hours are from 10 AM to 3 PM. General admission is 5 euros, with free entry on Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays.
The MUREC's permanent collection includes works by artists such as Sorolla, Zuloaga, Romero de Torres, Antonio López, and María Moreno, among others.
