The competition, organized by the Almeriense Petanque Club and supported by the Municipal Sports Board, took place last Sunday uninterruptedly from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The event featured players in the Doubles category, hailing from towns such as Almería, El Ejido, Viator, Rioja, Huércal de Almería, Turre, Alhama de Almería, Adra, and Roquetas de Mar. Participants also joined from La Mamola (Granada) and Madrid.
The day was marked by an atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship, with athletes showcasing a high level of play, making the event a social gathering as well as a competition.
Antonio Casimiro, Councilor for Active City, visited the competition to demonstrate municipal support for the sport and gain firsthand insight into its development. Francisco Romero Fernández, president of the Almeriense Petanque Club, positively assessed the participants' response and the overall atmosphere of the Open.
“"The development of the Open has been very positive, especially highlighting the atmosphere experienced during the day and the opportunity to bring together players from different clubs and towns in Almería."
The winners of the competition were Juan José Estévez (Amigos de Huércal de Almería) and Enrique Utrera (Viator). Second place went to Adrián Siles (El Rebalaje-La Mamola) and Pedro García (Amigos de Huércal de Almería). Third place was secured by Antonio Utrera (Alhama de Almería) and Diego Utrera (Amigos de Huércal de Almería).
