The University of Almería will organize the Conferences on the new European Migration and Asylum Pact: Legal and social challenges on October 22 and 23, 2026. This multidisciplinary event will focus on the impact of the new regulatory framework of the European Union on the protection of human rights and community reality.
The program will combine legal analysis with social and methodological debate, including conferences and round tables. Experts in Public International Law, Social Anthropology, and Political Sciences from universities such as Valencia, Deusto, Salamanca, Granada, and URJC, as well as researchers from the CSIC, will participate.
A practical workshop focused on participatory methodologies and applied research will also be held, with the presence of third-sector entities such as the Jesuit Migrant Service and the Cepaim Foundation.
The event will take place between 09:00 on Thursday, October 22, and 14:00 on Friday, October 23.
The Conference Hall of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Almería will be the main venue for these conferences.
The organization is led by the European Documentation Centre of the University of Almería, the Vice-Rectorate for Scientific Policy, the Centre for the Study of Migrations and Intercultural Relations (CEMyRI), and the Public International Law area of the Faculty of Law at the academic institution.
The event is supported by the Vice-Rectorate for Students of the University of Almería and the project EUPROTEGE (PID-172467NB-100), focusing on 'Vulnerability Situations in the European Pact on Migration and Asylum. Prevention and Protection Mechanisms.'
