The improvement project had a budget of 645,001 euros, funded equally by the Diputación de Granada and the Guadix City Council. This action is part of the provincial plan for investments in sports facilities.
The work involved removing the old aluminum curbing, sanding and decontaminating the surface, and repairing the base to ensure a uniform platform. A new prefabricated synthetic pavement, certified for outdoor use and compliant with World Athletics requirements, has been installed.
The intervention included adapting the steeplechase water jump to international regulations and installing conduits for future electronic timing systems. The track maintains its original configuration of eight lanes and 400 meters, covering a surface area of 6,100 square meters.
