The improvement and repair works on the roofs of the CEIP Miguel de Cervantes in Écija have involved an investment of approximately 400,000 euros from the Junta de Andalucía, exceeding initial projections. These works, carried out by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), under the Regional Ministry of Education, included comprehensive repair and waterproofing of the roof, fixing of deteriorated cornices, remediation of dampness and leaks in classrooms, and replacement of windows and access doors to patios not previously included.
Additionally, the City Council has funded the reinforcement of window lintels with around 15,000 euros. The school has also upgraded electronic devices such as digital whiteboards, printers, and projectors, with an investment of approximately 20,000 euros. The Thermal Comfort program has contributed 18,000 euros for air conditioning, shaded areas, and plantations. The school also receives annual aid of about 5,000 euros for minor improvements decided internally.
The Junta de Andalucía plans to execute a bioclimatization project valued at 425,000 euros. In total, the investment from various public administrations in the school approaches one million euros, according to Ana Carmona, delegate for Education.

Silvia Heredia, Mayor of Écija, highlighted the collaboration between teachers, parents, and the city council in securing the substantial funding from the Junta de Andalucía. She emphasized that this investment, close to one million euros, is allocated to one of the city's public schools with the largest student population, allowing students to start classes on September 10th with renovated facilities.

The school's director, Pastora Domínguez, expressed her satisfaction with the imminent completion of the works, describing them as large-scale and thanking the company for executing them on time, the local administration, the mayor, and the Junta de Andalucía for providing the necessary financial resources.
City council staff are assisting with cleaning and moving furniture so that students can begin the academic year in the renovated classrooms.
