The project for the exteriors and sports courts of the IES Alarifes Ruiz Florindo will have a planned funding of 480,000 euros. The commencement of works is scheduled for January 2027, representing a significant advancement in improving the spaces used daily by the students.
During the Municipal School Council session, held on September 29, a proposal was also presented for the construction of a new high school in the municipality, aiming to plan for future educational needs and complement current actions in existing centers. This initiative will proceed with its relevant processing before the competent administrations to determine its viability.
The mayor, Francisco Martínez, highlighted the importance of addressing both current and future needs, stating: 'To improve the spaces students use today and plan for those they will need tomorrow.' The City Council will continue to work with the educational community and competent administrations to advance on both lines of action.
Furthermore, information was provided on other pending improvements in educational centers, such as the construction of the SUM at CEIP Santa Teresa and the installation of an elevator at CEIP Santo Tomás. These efforts follow meetings held by the mayor with the delegate for Education, M.ª Auxiliadora Lora.
A review of the municipal services provided in the centers was conducted, emphasizing their importance for students and families, despite the financial effort they represent for municipal coffers.
Finally, the Municipal School Council unanimously approved the non-teaching days for the current academic year: February 5, May 3, and May 31.
