The mayor of Écija, Silvia Heredia, meets with residents affected by the situation of 91 homes, seeking an agreement amid a change of ownership and an increased economic offer.

The mayor of Écija, Silvia Heredia, has appeared to explain the current situation of 91 affected homes, following a meeting held on September 29 with resident representatives. The City Council reaffirms its commitment to act as an intermediary to achieve a balanced agreement between the company and the families.
Concern has increased due to the change in property management and the rise in the economic offer, which according to residents has gone from 3 to 7 million euros, complicating the agreement that had been in progress since the summer of 2025. The council has not yet been officially informed of these changes.
Given this new scenario, the mayor has indicated that the City Council will continue with the planned approach: the sale of a public asset and the provision of direct aid, based on criteria such as residency registration and family income. The collaboration of the Junta de Andalucía, as well as the Provincial Council of Seville and the Government of Spain, will be requested so that families do not face this situation alone.
Municipal spokesperson, Carlos Onetti, has urged to set aside political disputes and work together to find real solutions for these 91 families. After six years of uncertainty, families are awaiting a definitive solution, as previous negotiations have not been successful and time increasingly hinders access to affordable housing.
Silvia Heredia has announced a new meeting with the current manager to understand their conditions and explore avenues for agreement, emphasizing the need for clear answers and transparency to guarantee the right to decent housing. Formal information will be requested from the company to confirm the initially proposed price, around 28,000-30,000 euros, or if conditions have changed.
The possibility of providing aid or subsidies, subject to legal and economic requirements, is being studied. This will necessitate knowing the exact final price requested by the company and reviewing past agreements and discussions. The City Council aims to facilitate direct purchase by subsidizing part of the acquisition through the sale of a municipal asset and with the cooperation of other administrations.
Ongoing work includes modifying the use and potential sale of a municipal asset, direct individual and nominative municipal contributions to assist each resident, presenting a proposal to the Plenary in October, a letter of intent supported by all political groups, and seeking banking offers to facilitate family financing.
The objective is to maintain the roadmap initiated in June 2025 and ensure firm commitment for aid to reach residents, regardless of who governs. Updates will be provided with official documentation and data.
