This initiative arises after the repeated opposition from the municipal groups of the Popular Party (PP) and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) to the budget proposals. As explained by the mayor, the measure seeks to “test the political will of all municipal groups to prioritize the interests of Caniles above all else.”
Should the opposition not grant their confidence to Vázquez, they will have one month to present a motion of no confidence. If this procedure is not completed, the budgets will be automatically approved, as no viable alternative will exist.
“"This governing team is not here to occupy seats, but to act on the needs of the people and address problems."
The mayor has defended her team's management, highlighting a “historic allocation for investments” and efforts to build a quality Health Center. She also emphasized the commitment to municipalizing the home care service, currently managed by private entities, a measure that, according to her, “makes Caniles progress.”
Vázquez recalled that the budget was prepared by incorporating opposition proposals published on social media, following an initial “silence.” Despite modifications, including the withdrawal of the Health Center project in one version, the opposition maintained its negative vote. The mayor pointed out that the agreements for the construction of the health center in 2021 and 2023 were unanimously approved, including by PSOE and PP.
Finally, the mayor criticized the stance of PP and PSOE regarding a motion on a large-scale solar plant project, where both parties voted against a declaration, arguing that it is the responsibility of the governing team and they should not take a position.
