From various points, the inhabitants of Baza followed the solar eclipse on August 12th, mostly accompanied by family, friends, or neighbors. Many headed to elevated areas or those with better perspectives to contemplate this natural phenomenon.
Dozens of people congregated in the Mirador del Cascamorras area, where the City Council of Baza, through the Civil Protection group, established a special team to facilitate and organize the observation of the event. The day proceeded calmly and without incident.
Next to their vehicles, attendees enjoyed the eclipse and the refreshments they had prepared. Various means for observing the phenomenon were seen, although most had approved glasses.
“"It was a calm, exciting, and problem-free gathering. Fortunately, we did not have to resort to the emergency measures we had planned, and we were all able to enjoy this very special moment."
This was indicated at the end of the day by the Councilor for Governance, Mª Carmen Sánchez, who oversaw the event's details.
