A total of 152 residents of Baza, of whom 26 are officials and 126 are laborers, will be employed in the comprehensive improvement works that the Urban Planning department will carry out in the streets of the Las Conchas neighborhood. The intervention will include Plaza del Cine Las Conchas, Calle Las Conchas, and Calle María Moliner.
This project will utilize the €402,141 from the ordinary Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan (PFEA) for 2026, recently approved for the city of Baza. The Councilor for Urban Planning, Mª Carmen López, explained that the complete renovation of these roads will involve updating all underground sanitation and water supply systems, renewing connections and house access points, providing empty conduits for future use, remodeling sidewalks, repairing the road surface, and finally, resurfacing and renewing the lighting fixtures.
López emphasized that the goal is to create a modern neighborhood with renewed public infrastructure, prepared for decades to come without urbanistic problems, while also providing employment for the city's unemployed. The administrative process for tendering the works is currently underway.
The financing for this program has involved collaboration from various administrations. The SEPE has contributed €265,553 for salaries, along with €17,088 from the Baza City Council. The Regional Government of Andalusia and the Provincial Council will finance the materials with an additional €119,499.
