The Department of Culture of the Baza City Council has published the regulatory bases for the 2026 edition of the Cascamorras Award. This recognition is intended for companies, institutions, associations, or individuals, residing in Baza or elsewhere, who have distinguished themselves through their work in promoting and disseminating the festival and the figure of “Cascamorras”, an emblematic character of the city. The celebration of this festival was declared an International Festival of Tourist Interest in 2013.
Candidates cannot nominate themselves; proposals must be made by associations, entities, social, cultural, or sports collectives, or by individuals. Each proposal must be motivated and accompanied by a report detailing the candidate's merits. The deadline for submitting these nominations is Friday, August 21, 2026. Applications should be submitted through the Entry Register of the Baza City Council.
The jury responsible for the selection will be composed of the Informative Commission of Culture. The award ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 4, coinciding with the official opening speech of the Baza Fair and Festivals. Last year, the Cascamorras Award was presented to Jesús Samaniego, who received the distinction of Honorary Cascamorras.
