The Jaén City Council, via the Public Company for Parking and Services (Epassa), has initiated an information campaign for the future parking facility at La Alameda. A total of 14,000 brochures with QR codes will be distributed to residents in the areas of San Idelfonso, Salobreja, Avenida de Granada, and Camino de las Cruces, Belén, and San Roque.
The objective is to gather information on the parking needs of residents and local users for the 460 spaces the facility will offer, with an expected opening in 2027. The mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, highlighted that the online form, accessible via the QR code, can be completed in one minute and also provides contact information for phone and in-person inquiries at Epassa's offices.
The La Alameda area suffers from a long-standing parking shortage, affecting both residents and users of the health center and local businesses. The new parking facility will allocate the vast majority of its spaces to residents, aiming to address this historical demand. Approximately one hundred spaces are estimated to be for short-term use, facilitating access to the health center and the center of Jaén.
The project includes two access modalities: a monthly rental scheme and a 75-year usage concession, which is transferable and inheritable. The City Council seeks to gauge public interest before the infrastructure's launch, allowing for the parking management to be tailored to actual needs.
The council states that the construction of this parking facility will significantly improve mobility in the La Alameda area, alleviating the parking scarcity faced by residents, reducing search times, and decreasing traffic generated by vehicles looking for spaces. The rotation spaces will enhance access to the health center and the city center, improving accessibility for visitors and users of public and private services, while also benefiting local commerce. This project is part of a municipal plan to provide 1,000 parking spaces across various city neighborhoods.
