The Alameda de Andalucía, one of the streets with the most commercial and hospitality activity in the center of Antequera (Málaga), will undergo a comprehensive transformation starting September 15th. The Antequera City Council has set this date for the commencement of works that will require an investment of 1.46 million euros.
Before the work begins, the mayor, Manolo Barón, convened local business owners and restaurateurs for an informational meeting. The calendar and scope of the works, which will last 16 months and be executed in four phases, were detailed during the gathering.
The project includes the complete renovation of the paving, pipelines, and pedestrian areas of this main street. The most noticeable change will be the replacement of the current marble with granite flooring, while the orange trees lining the street will remain in place.
The remodeling also features the installation of an underground electrical conduit for hospitality businesses to connect their external power supplies without overhead cables. Additionally, circulation areas, loading and unloading zones, and parking spaces will be redistributed, adapting urban furniture to the new street design.
Municipal sources have assured that advance notice will be given regarding planned traffic diversions before each phase. The City Council commits to ensuring pedestrian access to shops throughout the entire process.
