Unemployment in Campo de Gibraltar decreased by 545 people during May, standing at 25,837 job seekers, with the services sector leading job creation.

The proximity of summer has boosted job creation in the Campo de Gibraltar during May. Registered unemployment fell by 545 people compared to April, closing the month with a total of 25,837 job seekers in the region. This reduction has extended to all economic sectors, including construction, industry, and agriculture, reflecting a marked seasonality in the area's productive fabric.
On an annual basis, the balance is particularly positive, with 2,415 fewer job seekers than in May 2025. This trend consolidates 44 consecutive months of job generation in the region, as since October 2022 the year-on-year difference has been negative, meaning month by month there is less registered unemployment compared to the same month of the previous year.
The services sector has been the main driver of this decrease, followed by the group of new job seekers. Specifically, the services sector registered 371 fewer unemployed, totaling 17,566 people. The group of new job seekers decreased by 102 people, standing at 4,218. Construction, industry, and agriculture also experienced declines, with 38, 24, and 10 fewer unemployed, respectively.
In the province of Cádiz as a whole, unemployment fell by 2,096 people in May, reaching 102,987 unemployed. This drop, although lower than the previous year, is part of a positive annual trend with 11,229 fewer people on the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) lists over the last twelve months. The province of Cádiz mirrors the national trend, exceeding the average unemployment reduction both nationally and in Andalusia.
The trade union Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) has positively assessed the reduction in unemployment, although it has qualified the impact of summer seasonality. A union spokesperson stated that 'this data cannot hide the problems that our labor market is dragging and which mean that more than twenty-five thousand people in the Campo de Gibraltar cannot find a job'.
