The National Police has dismantled a dangerous, hierarchical criminal organization based in La Línea de la Concepción, delivering a significant blow against sex exploitation in the Campo de Gibraltar region. The operation, stemming from an investigation initiated in 2024, has concluded with the arrest of 12 individuals and the rescue of 12 women.
The ring operated on both sides of the border, utilizing properties linked to a company registered in Gibraltar. Police investigations revealed that the criminal structure lured foreign women in situations of extreme vulnerability, many of them undocumented in Spain, with false job offers.
Upon accepting the conditions, the victims were moved to the organization's apartments, which served as operational hubs and places of confinement. There, they endured suffocating control through economic coercion, imposing fictitious debts for rent and commissions, and constant intimidation. The women were monitored 24/7, subjected to rigid schedules, selected clients, and complete deprivation of liberty, preventing any escape or reporting attempts.
A key aspect of the investigation involved identifying the network's financial backing. The safe houses used for exploitation and coercion of victims were registered under a commercial entity based in Gibraltar, uncovering a cross-border operation with clearly defined roles within the gang, from foreign recruitment to profit management.
