The Coronation night marked the official start of San Roque's festive week, which will run until next Monday, August 17. The event, held on the main stage, was attended by the mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and the Councilor for Festivities, Abel Heredia, who bestowed the sashes and crowns upon the new queens and their courts of honor.
The official parade of the Courts of Honor, accompanied by the music band, began from the Carteia Museum in Plaza Santa Ana, bringing color to the streets en route to the main stage. The event also served to acknowledge the work of designer Alejandro Andana and Camino Viñayo, author of this edition's poster.
Local choreographer Vanessa Orrán delivered an emotional opening speech, weaving her personal memories with the evolution of the Royal Fair and her students' dances, concluding her address with a bulerías performance. The evening concluded with a musical performance by Los Chunguitos.
In the social sphere, this year's edition introduces accessibility measures, including the distribution of priority wristbands for children with cognitive disabilities and designated quiet hours without music or loud noises for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly during the children's party and at the fairgrounds.
The festive agenda continues today with the Grand Parade along Carlos Pacheco and Málaga avenues to Ejército avenue, followed by the lighting of the extraordinary illumination and the opening of the Municipal Booth. The program includes traditional events such as the Senior Citizens' Dinner, a bullfight, the procession of the patron saint Santa María La Coronada, and the Rociero Sunday, before the final closing with the Toro del Aguardiente.
