The decision to allow bathers back into the water follows favorable technical reports issued by the Regional Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz. These assessments ensure that water and sand conditions are safe for public use following the incident caused by a vessel in the Bay of Algeciras.
The preventive closure, which lasted for the past two days, allowed for intensive inspection and monitoring tasks along the coastline. The operation involved various entities, including the Bay of Algeciras Port Authority, Maritime Rescue, Civil Protection, and municipal services.
Although the area is now operational, the City Council of Los Barrios has confirmed that it will maintain a surveillance and reinforced cleaning device. The goal is to remove any residual debris that may appear on the sand over the coming days, ensuring the maintenance of environmental quality in one of the most frequented areas of the summer season.
