This initiative, promoted by the Por Andalucía candidate in the province of Cádiz, seeks to address the professional shortages affecting various hospital services. The designation as a difficult coverage center is a legal framework designed to incentivize healthcare workers to choose these types of facilities.
“"It is a measure that would alleviate the professional shortcomings suffered by many of the Punta de Europa's services and their negative repercussions on the quality of care for public health users."
The coalition has highlighted the problems faced by Punta de Europa in areas such as Rehabilitation, Otorhinolaryngology, and Oncology, services that have sometimes operated at their limits. It was noted that last summer, the hospital had to refer new patients to other centers due to its inability to treat them on-site.
Por Andalucía has criticized the healthcare management of the Partido Popular in the Junta de Andalucía, stating that the hospital's situation reflects the "failure of healthcare policy" by the regional government. The coalition laments the reduction of public health professionals in the region and the failure to meet commitments regarding healthcare infrastructure.
A difficult coverage hospital is defined as a center or medical specialty where it is challenging to find qualified personnel, presenting structural or temporary vacancies that urgently require coverage to ensure healthcare, especially in rural, remote, or high-demand areas.
