The complete list of candidates for this party, led by Dris Mohamed Amar, has been published in the Official Gazette of the Province, marking a significant milestone as their first participation in regional elections. The party, founded three years ago in Algeciras, positions itself as a political project with a national scope, driven by social and nationalist aspirations.
In the municipal elections of 2023, the Partido Andalusí secured 320 votes in Algeciras, representing 0.7% of registered voters, a figure far from the approximately 2,200 votes required to elect a councilor. Despite this outcome, the party is moving forward with its electoral expansion.
The Partido Andalusí originated in Algeciras in 2023, where it was introduced as a new political force emerging from the Campo de Gibraltar. Its founders envisioned it as an inclusive platform for citizen participation, regardless of creed, race, or gender, with an ideological foundation rooted in Islamic humanism. The project aims to reclaim the historical Andalusian identity and forge a distinct political vision for Andalusia, emphasizing its cultural ties with North Africa and the Mediterranean region.
Key figures in its establishment include Alejandro Delmás Infante, alongside Driss Mohamed, Yihad Sarasua, and Juan Carlos Rodríguez Cruz. Early activities included organizing a foundational congress in Algeciras. The party has advocated for social and community-oriented proposals, as well as the defense of Andalusian identity, and has maintained connections with the Spanish Federation of Islamic Religious Entities in the Campo de Gibraltar.
The electoral debut of the Partido Andalusí occurs amidst shifts in Cádiz's political landscape, with the emergence of new parties like 100x100 Unidos and Se Acabó la Fiesta (SALF), and the absence of others such as Ciudadanos or Recortes Cero. The Electoral Board will review the candidacies before the final publication, scheduled for April 21. The province of Cádiz will elect 15 Andalusian parliamentarians in these elections.
