This Friday, a new melia tree was planted in the Park of Life, located near the Punta Europa University Hospital in Algeciras. This event commemorates National Organ and Tissue Donor Day and is made possible by the annual initiative of the Association of Transplanted, Donors, and Cardiac Patients of Algeciras, Orión.

This specimen becomes the sixteenth tree to be added to the park since this tradition began seventeen years ago, with the exception of the pandemic year.

Representatives from the local government attended the ceremony, including the Deputy Mayor for Equality and Social Welfare, Paula Conesa; the Deputy Mayor for Citizen Participation, Jorge Juliá; and the Councillor for Health, Sabina Quiles. Opposition councillors, members of the government team from San Roque, hospital officials, representatives from the Mutual Cooperation Group, as well as donors and recipients were also present.
