The festive atmosphere is already palpable in Los Barrios, where Lantern Sunday, a consolidated tradition for putting the finishing touches on the booths, has become another day of celebration. This day has served as a meeting point for residents and visitors from Campo de Gibraltar, who have enjoyed the first dances and toasts, filling several booths despite the cloudy day.
The 2026 edition of the fair brings several novelties. The coronation ceremony for the children's and youth courts, along with the proclamation reading by artist Carlos Contreras, will take place on Monday, May 11, in the Paseo de la Constitución. This change aims to avoid coinciding with the communion calendar and to offer a larger capacity space for the event, which will feature a performance by the group Raya Real.
Another important modification is the celebration of the parade, which moves to Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 PM. The parade will maintain its usual route, starting from Alcalde Juan Rodríguez Avenue and culminating at the fairgrounds with the lighting ceremony. Additionally, the tourist train connecting the urban center to the fair will be free this year, encouraging the use of public transport.
The tribute lunch for the elderly will be divided into two days, Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14, to accommodate 1,200 diners at the Hotel Montera Plaza, with live music. Thursday, May 14, will also be the second day with discounted prices for children's attractions. On Friday, May 15, a major day of the festivities, mass for San Isidro will be held at 11:30 AM, followed by a procession and the opening of the fairgrounds.
On Saturday, May 16, a bullfighting event will take place at 6:30 PM, featuring bullfighters Antonio Ferrera and David Galván, along with novice bullfighter Míriam Cabas. This event will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the La Montera bullring. The fair will conclude on Sunday, May 17, coinciding with the elections in Andalucía, and will bid farewell with a midnight fireworks display. Security will be reinforced with video surveillance and a Punto Violeta to prevent sexist aggressions.
