The city of La Línea de la Concepción has experienced a successful first weekend of its Velada y Fiestas, with a program that has attracted numerous citizens and visitors. The official events proceeded smoothly with high participation.
The festive agenda began on Friday with the coronation of the Queen and her court of honor, followed by a proclamation by artist Ascensión Pero and a performance by copla singer Erika Leiva.
Saturday was marked by the Grand Parade, which drew an estimated crowd of over 40,000 people along the city's avenues. The weekend concluded with the Domingo Rociero, which saw an exceptional atmosphere in the city center and the caseta area, coinciding with Spain's victory in the Football World Cup.
Mayor Juan Franco positively assessed the start of the festivities, expressing satisfaction with the attendees' civility and the municipality's projection. "I would like to highlight that the kickoff was on Thursday with the events for the Virgen del Carmen, which were held normally. On Saturday, we enjoyed a spectacular parade day, with a massive attendance of over 40,000 people and no incidents worth mentioning. I want to thank all the security, cleaning, and, of course, festival and other involved departments for making this weekend a provincial benchmark," he stated.
The City Council has acknowledged the coordinated effort of the Festivals, Citizen Security, and Cleaning departments, whose work was crucial for the smooth running of the programmed activities.
This Monday marks the Día de la Japonesa, a traditional local sweet, with special preparations made by local confectioneries Moka, Okay, and Modelo.
