In the municipality of Los Barrios, a lesser-known cultural proposal invites visitors to explore the rural past of the region. It is a small ethnographic exhibition located in Casa Moriscos, which transports visitors to the daily life of the charcoal burners and shepherds who inhabited the Los Alcornocales Natural Park.
This initiative, promoted by the Aldea de Cucarrete Association, has successfully recreated with great fidelity the traditional lifestyle of this natural environment. The exhibition displays tools, objects, and customs that defined the subsistence of past generations, offering a unique perspective on local history.
The exhibition highlights the valuable knowledge of the ancient inhabitants of these mountains, where activities such as charcoal production and pastoralism were fundamental pillars. It is a journey that allows understanding the daily life in one of the most important natural ecosystems in southern Spain.
Designed with care, this cultural proposal seeks to bring this part of history closer to residents and tourists. Currently, the exhibition can be visited on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Starting from the last week of April, it will also open its doors on Thursdays during the same hours.
This cultural alternative is presented as an excellent opportunity to connect with the rural legacy of the Campo de Gibraltar, offering a different experience from usual plans and revealing stories yet to be discovered in Los Barrios.
