The festival, held in the ancient church of Santa María in Tarifa, concluded this Friday with the awards ceremony, attended by institutional representatives and figures from the audiovisual sector.
The international jury recognized Promis le ciel for its sensitive and complex portrayal of African migrant women's experiences, highlighting their journeys as processes shaped by autonomy, desire, and the legitimate possibility of departure, staying, or returning.
The film's success was further bolstered by the Best Actress Award for Deborah Christelle Lobe Naney, acknowledged for her profound humanity in embodying the hardship of sustaining a migratory dream and the pain of renouncing it. The Best Actor Award went to Admiro De Laura Munguambe for his performance in O profeta.
The Casa África Award for Best Direction was presented to Franco-Egyptian filmmaker Namir Abdel Messeeh for his documentary La vie après Shiam. The VII ACERCA Award for Spanish Cooperation was given to the feature film One woman one bra, by director Vincho Nchogu.
In the short film section, the Andalusian jury awarded the FAMSI Award to Les jardins du paradis, by Sonia Terrab, for its subtle yet powerful address of the situation of Moroccan women facing unjust laws. Radio Televisión de Andalucía presented the First African Views Award to Erige Sehiri for her work promoting unity between cultures.
Additionally, the festival hosted the FCAT LAB international production workshop, where the main prize was awarded to Standing at the Ruins, by Saeed Taji Farouky.
