The APBA delegation traveled to the main logistics and supply chain fair in North Africa, held from Tuesday, May 12, to Thursday, May 14. Spain was the guest of honor at this event, which brings together operators, authorities, and companies from the logistics and transport sector across the Mediterranean and African regions.
The presence of the Port of Algeciras was established through its own stand, coordinated by ICEX, from which it promoted its significance as a strategic hub between Europe and the Maghreb. Alongside the Port Authority, representatives from various port community companies such as Transbull, Partida, ECS 360, Mertramar, Grupo IDEC, and Total Logistics also attended.
This participation underscores the commitment of the Algeciras port institution to strengthening its relationship with the Moroccan market, its primary logistics partner in ro-ro traffic. The maritime connection between Algeciras and Port Tanger Med annually handles nearly half a million import and export trucks, a vital route for industrial and commercial supply between the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa, and the rest of Europe.

During the inauguration of the event, the Spanish ambassador to Morocco, Enrique Ojeda, visited the Algeciras stand, where he was informed about the strategic importance of the enclave in bilateral relations and the international logistics chain. The sector views this context as an opportunity to consolidate commercial alliances, improve infrastructure, and attract new cargo flows, especially with an eye on the FIFA World Cup 2030, which Spain, Morocco, and Portugal will jointly host.
