Pablo García, Vicepresident of Culture, and Javier Vázquez Hueso, head of Youth and Education for the Mancomunidad of Municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar, held a meeting with teacher Álvaro Rodríguez. Rodríguez is the driving force behind “Ciudalín,” an initiative featuring a calligraphy workbook designed for young children in the early stages of learning to read and write.
The “Ciudalín” project merges literacy development with knowledge of the region and its identity markers. It incorporates references to the different municipalities and representative cultural elements of Campo de Gibraltar. The aim is to link education and culture, making learning an attractive and motivating experience for children while fostering an appreciation for their surroundings.
The regional representatives positively assessed the educational and cultural value of the proposal, highlighting its ability to introduce schoolchildren to the heritage and diversity of the region's municipalities through an age-appropriate format. They also emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that promote knowledge of Campo de Gibraltar and the connection of new generations with the territory from the early educational stages.
Currently, workbooks for Algeciras, San Roque, and La Línea de la Concepción have already been developed. The project plans to expand to the rest of the region's municipalities, exploring various collaboration avenues. During the meeting, potential cooperation methods with the Mancomunidad were discussed to facilitate access to the workbooks for a greater number of schoolchildren and promote their dissemination throughout the region.
