This recognition acknowledges over 30 years of tireless work in support of individuals with dementia and their relatives. The honoree, originally from Peñaflor (Seville) and residing in Algeciras since 1967, transformed a personal experience into a lasting collective commitment.

In the 1990s, facing limited visibility of the disease and scarce resources, the honoree recognized the isolation of many families. This drive led her to co-found the Association of Family Members of Alzheimer's Patients of Campo de Gibraltar in 1994. Her leadership was crucial for the organization's growth, professionalizing care and consolidating services such as the day center, inaugurated in 2007.

During the event, the honoree expressed her gratitude, emphasizing that the recognition is not just for her, but for everyone who works daily to improve the lives of patients and their families. She stated that Algeciras opened its doors to her and has now opened its heart.

The mayor of Algeciras, who presented the title, highlighted the honoree's human and voluntary profile, underscoring the mutual affection between her and the city. The emeritus president of the association continues to advocate for improving the care network, especially with the creation of a specialized residence for people with dementia, a need she considers urgent in the region.

Her social commitment extends beyond Alzheimer's, including volunteer work in oncology at Punta de Europa Hospital and in soup kitchens, reflecting a constant vocation for service. Various authorities and representatives from social groups attended the event, as did violinist Daniel Valencia, who provided musical accompaniment.
