The Algeciras CF squad, still under construction, will commence the Adrián Colunga era this Tuesday. Following an initial official meeting in the Nuevo Mirador dressing room, the team will focus on absorbing the new coach's directives at La Pradera, the annex field to the stadium that will serve as the main venue for the first week of work.
Monday's schedule included the customary physical tests and medical examinations, a standard procedure to assess the players' condition after the holidays and verify their fitness levels.
Asturian coach Adrián Colunga currently has 21 confirmed players. Of these, 18 are from the first team: goalkeeper Iván Moreno; defenders Tomás Sánchez, Paris Adot, Joseca, Aleix Coch, Víctor Ruiz, Ángel Gómez, and Fran Carmona; midfielders Iván Turrillo, Óscar Castro, Joe Riley, Dani Garrido, Toni Ramón, and Diego Almeida; and forwards Juanma García, Diego Iglesias, Raúl Rubio, and Javi Avilés. They will be joined by three youth players: Javi Benítez, Miguel Perea, and Raúl Vilches.
The sporting management, led by Jordi Figueras, has shaped the squad for the sixth consecutive season in Primera Federación, although further signings are expected, particularly in the attacking department. So far, the defense has been reinforced with Fran Carmona, the midfield with Toni Ramón and Diego Almeida, and the attack with Diego Iglesias and Raúl Rubio.
The team will train in the morning (10:00 AM) until next Saturday, alternating between La Pradera and the football field in Los Barrios. After a rest day on Sunday, the second week of preparation will include the first friendly match, likely between July 20th and 26th.
To date, Algeciras has confirmed two preparation matches: a friendly against CD Estepona (Segunda RFEF) on August 22nd at the Nuevo Mirador, and the thirty-first edition of the Trofeo Virgen de la Palma on August 1st against the Tottenham Hotspur U-21 team.
